About the Vintage Small-Round Baler During the 1970s, small-round balers became a familiar sight across farms, producing manageable, weather-resistant bales. From the factory, these machines were equipped with large sheet-metal side shields designed to protect operators from fast-spinning chains, sprockets, and tension arms. However, it was extremely common to see farmers operating them with the covers completely removed. Frequent belt slipping, chain oiling, and twine-arm jams meant shields were constantly being taken off for maintenance—and eventually just left off altogether. This model captures that classic, hard-working farmyard look with all its detailed internal mechanisms on full display.
